Oo, looks Friesian-esque. Would love to know more about him/her -- they're not terribly common.

friesians

i had to go back to see whether it's a mare -- she's definitely not a friesian, though i agree that her head has that general "spanish" look. she's much too light for it though and her conformation looks nothing like a friesian.

man, i'd love to have a friesian. such gorgeous horses. i watched "ladyhawke" N times just for rutger hauer's horse. :)

Had to take a swing on it, because man, she does have that look to her head (and it's not like I could see the rest of her, ha!).

... Ladyhawke was one of the movies that first made me fall in love with horses. It's been far, far too long since I've seen it -- I should Netflix it. Don't know that I'd actually want to own a Friesian, though -- the Spanish types, as a rule, don't do terribly much for me (or any of the heavier saddle breeds) -- I prefer more flexible horses, and may want to get into eventing once I'm back in shape. I can't really picture a Friesian on a cross-country course. ;) Gorgeous horses, though.

they're impressively agile for a draft horse, and they're certainly plenty athletic enough, but yeah, i wouldn't ride one in eventing -- jumping isn't so good for heavy horses.

ah, but without the fence

it'd be mugging you for carrots. I know that look. :)

Like the level of shadow detail and the contrast between the light and unlit sides of the horse.
